The Ranch.
Chapter one. Diary
One week. One whole week of staying at this ranch. This was supposed to be a fun week with my best friend, having picnics, playing in flower fields and looking at cute animals. But no, god i forgot how creepy this ranch was, i remember spending a few nights here with mom and dad when i was 6, we had to leave because i kept having night terrors i remember grandmas face when we were leaving, she looked disappointed i couldn’t fully see her face with the tears blurring my eyes but i started crying harder after looking at her disappointment. I had nightmares even months after those few nights. My best friend Casey and I had been planning on going on a vacation for months. This was the closest we would get to a real vacation. We wanted to go to Spain, but it's hard to get plane tickets when you’re 15, so my grandma's ranch was the next closest thing. I think. So me, dad and Casey rode in the car for hours and now here we are in Texas pulling into a gravely driveway with a big farm house and 500 acres. We go inside and immediately are sent by grandpa to feed the goats, cows and chickens. Are you kidding me? I came here for fun! Not taking care of YOUR livestock! So. Me and Casey had to carry hay bales to the cows and goats, then feed the chickens. There was a fourth pen behind the stables. It stunk. Like a skunk mixed with damp dog and manure. Yuck. We went closer and plugged our noses, it was pigs, tons of them covered in mud. We ran away, Casey said a funny joke and we laughed for about a minute. Why didn't grandpa tell us to feed the pigs? We went to the house and had dinner. I have a feeling Grandpa is going to be yelling at us to do more work. Not looking forward to it but atleast i have Casey. –Ollie
Casey and Ollie were staying in the attic, giggling and joking. 1:56am. “Oh god, look at the time” Ollie whispered “Geez. Should we sleep?” Ollie looked around. “I’m not sure I wanna sleep in this creepy attic.” He whispered. “What? Are you scared?” Casey teased. A loud “MOO” of a cow boomed from outside. They both gasped then laughed at each other. “Let's go to bed. Hopefully there’s no cows in the attic." They giggle and go to sleep.

The next day. The two woke up early in the morning, hoping to slink past grandpa and avoid more work. The air was cold and breezy, Ollie’s blonde short hair blew through the wind as they both ran down the field trying to chase each other, suddenly Casey tripped on a rock, he face-planted onto the grass, earning himself a bloody nose. “Ouuuchhhh…” He groaned. Ollie dropped on the grass next to him. “Are you okay?” “yeah..” A shriek rang out from something running at them. They whipped around and were met with a pig running at them. Foaming from the mouth. They both scream and start to sprint down the field still yelling. They spot a pile of hay bales in the distance “OVER THERE!” Casey yells. They run and jump up and climb to the top. They stare down at the rabid pig, still shrieking and snorting. Ollie looks around the huge field. Empty. No houses or fences in sight. “Do you have your phone..?” Ollie starts “uh…Do you?” “Noope..” They both sit down on the hay bales looking down at the pig, still going crazy. “Get comfy I guess.” Casey sighs.

3 Hours later. They still hear the pig screaming below them. They are hungry and scared. Ollie looks in the distance and sees grandpa slowly walking towards them. Ollie stands up and waves his arms around “GRANDPA HELP! THIS PIG IS CRAZY!” Grandpa has something in his hand. He points at the pig. A shot rings out. Casey and Ollie jump. The pig starts to shriek loudly again. Grandpa finally reaches them. They both hop down from the hay bales and stare at the rabid pig, shrieking and screaming on its side with a hole in its stomach. The pig stills and quiets. Their eyes are wide. “What are you boys doing out here?” He grunts. “We wanted to explore…” Ollie says quietly, scared if he's too loud he’ll wake the pig up. “Let's get back home.” Grandpa grabs the pig and swings it over his shoulder, he starts to walk back to the house, with Casey and Ollie slowly trailing behind. Not a word spoken.
